Fourth of July Weekend 2025 on Martha’s Vineyard

There’s no place quite like Martha’s Vineyard for Fourth of July weekend. With classic parades, family-friendly celebrations, and breathtaking fireworks over the harbor, Independence Day on the Island is a beloved tradition. Here’s your guide to the best events happening across the Vineyard for July 4th weekend in 2025.

Edgartown’s Famous Fourth of July Celebration — Friday, July 4

Edgartown hosts the Island’s most iconic Fourth of July festivities. Here’s the rundown:

  • Annual Fourth of July Parade (5:00 PM)
A true slice of Americana! Head to downtown Edgartown for vintage fire trucks, marching bands, kids in costume, and local floats. Arrive early to stake out a good viewing spot along Main Street and Water Street.

  • Fireworks over Edgartown Harbor (9:00 PM, Friday 7/4)
Stick around after the parade for one of New England’s most spectacular fireworks shows. Grab a blanket and find a spot at Memorial Wharf, Fuller Street Beach, or along North Water Street for a front-row seat.

Note: Traffic can be heavy, and parking limited — walking or biking is highly recommended.

Live Music & Outdoor Fun All Weekend Long

Looking to keep the party going beyond the 4th? Here are some happenings throughout the weekend:

  • MV Sound Festival – Oak Bluffs
This weekend-long live music celebration features Island talent and regional acts at Ocean Park. Free and family-friendly. Food vendors and picnic spots available. Bring your blanket!

  • Harbor View Hotel Lawn Party – Edgartown
Saturday, July 5 | Live band, lawn games, and sunset views with a festive, upscale vibe. Book early for dining or stay packages.

  • Farm Institute Family Day – Katama
Saturday, July 5 | A daytime event with hayrides, games, and farm-fresh food perfect for kids and families.

Outdoor Activities to Celebrate Summer

If you prefer to celebrate away from the crowds, July 4th weekend is also perfect for:

  • Biking the State Forest trails

  • Beach day at Lambert’s Cove, South Beach, or Menemsha

  • Kayaking on Sengekontacket Pond

  • Sunset picnic and fishing in Menemsha (sunsets here are legendary!)

Don’t Forget the Treats

What’s July 4th without a little indulgence?

  • Back Door Donuts (Oak Bluffs): Pick up hot late-night donuts after the fireworks.

  • Mad Martha’s (Edgartown & Vineyard Haven): A scoop (or two) of classic New England ice cream is a must.

  • Larsen’s Fish Market (Menemsha): Grab a lobster roll and watch the boats come in.

Happy Fourth from Martha’s Vineyard!
Whether you’re here for the fireworks, the food, or the peaceful beaches, there’s something magical about July 4th weekend on the Island. Be safe, be festive, and enjoy every moment.
