Chilmark is resplendent with natural beauty and includes several of Martha’s Vineyard’s most gorgeous beaches. Menemsha is a quaint fishing village, known for lobster rolls, charter boats, and a rugged jetty on the sound. The cluster of buildings around the Chilmark Store, Tavern, Post Office, and Community Center serves as the main hub for summer and year-round residents. Open landscapes, a product of 3-acre zoning and recent bylaws limiting house size, define the majority of the area, with many homes dotting hilltops and slopes to optimize water views. Lucy Vincent and Squibnocket are two superb resident-only beaches (in summer) and draw visitors from near and far.
